How does connecting external IP cameras to myTikee work?



You can connect IP cameras to myTikee to monitor all your projects from the same interface. Your cameras will send its images to your account on myTikee. To use this feature, there are a few prerequisites:

On the IP camera side:

- Install the camera.
- Connect it to a network, the camera must have access to the internet.
- The configuration interface must be accessible.

On the myTikee side:

- A myTikee account must have been created.
- Have a myTikee Storytelling license for this external camera.

How do you connect your IP camera to the myTikee cloud platform?



On the myTikee side



Log in to your account on myTikee.

In the menu on the left, navigate to "My cameras", and click on "IP cameras".

Click on "Add an external camera".



Name the camera and the point of view, then click on "Create the camera".



The camera now appears in the list.

Click on "View all details" and leave this page open for later.



On the IP camera side



The steps below are based on an AXIS P1448-LE IP camera. Please note that the method may vary slightly depending on the camera brand, model and firmware.

Log into the Axis camera interface.



Display the settings.

If the camera is not already set to capture Jpeg images, follow the steps below:

Click on the "Stream" tab and then on "Stream profiles".



Create a new stream profile.

- Enter a name.
- Select "MJPEG".
- Select the resolution (the minimum resolution allowed on myTikee is 1920x1080).
- Save.



Click on the "System" tab and then on "Events".



Click on "Schedules" and create a new schedule, defining when the IP cameras should transfer images.



Select the type "Schedule".



Name your schedule.



Adjust the parameters as wanted. You can adjust the start and end time, and the active days if necessary.
Save.

Click on "Recipients" and create a new recipient.



Name your recipient.
Type: "SFTP".
Host: copy and paste the host provided in the myTikee camera details (you can use the copy button).
Port: leave the default value at 22.
Folder: leave the default value, blank.
Username: copy and paste the username provided in the myTikee camera details (you can use the copy button).
Password: copy and paste the password provided in the myTikee camera details (you can use the copy button).
SSH host public key MD5: copy and paste the MD5 hash provided in the myTikee camera details (you can use the copy button).



Click on "Test", the test should succeed, if not, check your credentials, and make sure the IP camera has an Internet access.

Click on "Rules", and create a new rule.



Name your rule.
Check the Use this rule box.
Set Wait between actions to any low value (indicative value 30 seconds).
Conditions: Select "Scheduled Event".
Schedule: Select the schedule you created earlier.



Actions: Select "Send images through SFTP while this rule is active".
Recipients : Select the recipient you created earlier.
Stream : Select the stream you created earlier.
Enable the Custom image frequency and select your interval (the minimum interval allowed in myTikee is 5 seconds).
Prebuffer / Postbuffer: Leave the default values.
Adjust the maximum number of images, or enter 0 to disable the limit (preferred).
Create folder: Leave blank.
File name: "image%y-%m-%d_%H-%M-%S-%f_#s.jpg".
Save.
