Tikee Sentinel
Tikee Sentinel Presentation
What is the Tikee Sentinel?
The Tikee Sentinel is a PIR (Passive InfraRed) motion detector designed to trigger photo captures or videos on your compatible Tikee camera (Tikee 4, Tikee mini, Tikee mini+ or later).
It allows capturing specific events (movements, passages…) outside of the camera’s standard scheduling.
What is its detection range?
Detection field
- The detection field is: 120° horizontally, 45° vertically
Detection range
- The detection range is: 9m maximum, depending on installation conditions
- Optimal between 2 and 7m
Installation recommendations
- The Tikee Sentinel must be installed vertically, at a height of approximately 2m

What are the installation constraints of the PIR sensor?
For better performance:
- ❌ Avoid moving objects in the field of view (trees, flags, etc.)
- ❌ Avoid reflective surfaces (glass, mirrors)
- ❌ Do not install behind a window
- ❌ Do not include the sky in the field of view
- ✅ Point the sensor toward the area of interest, at human height

Pairing
What are the prerequisites for pairing?
Before starting:
- Your Tikee camera must be connected to the Tikee Remote application, charged, updated and nearby. The minimum required firmware is V8.0.0.
- The Tikee Sentinel must be charged via a USB-C charger (minimum 1A) — full charging time: approximately 5 hours.
How to pair the Tikee Sentinel with my Tikee camera?
- Open Tikee Remote and log in to your account.
- Start the scan and select your camera.
- Click on Sentinel → Create a new link.
- Turn on the Tikee Sentinel and press its button (The LED flashes rapidly in blue).
- Press the button again to activate pairing mode (The LED flashes slowly in blue).
- Select Select device, then choose your Tikee Sentinel from the list.
- Follow the on-screen steps until the success message is displayed
🔹 Getting started
How to adjust the camera reaction to a detection?
- Connect to the Tikee camera via Tikee Remote.
- Click on Sentinel → Mode.
- Choose among:
- Always: the camera reacts to every detected event.
- Outside sequences: only outside scheduled capture times.
- Never: no triggering.
- Save your settings.
What types of events can I configure?
In the Motion tab:
- Photo: capture of a single image.
- Video: capture of a video sequence (only on Tikee mini and mini+).
- Burst: multiple images at short intervals.
- Disabled: no action when an event occurs.
🔹 Finalizing settings / Installation
What is the connection range between the Tikee Sentinel and the Tikee camera?
Up to 30 meters, depending on the environment (obstacles, walls, weather conditions).
How to perform a connection test?
- Open Tikee Remote and log in.
- Start a scan.
- Turn on the Tikee Sentinel (flashing LED).
- Activate pairing mode (blue LED).
- Select your Sentinel → click Test Connection next to the serial number of the paired camera.
- The test checks communication between the two devices.
How to adjust sensitivity?
- From Tikee Remote, log in and start a scan.
- Turn on the Sentinel and activate pairing mode (blue LED).
- Select the device from the list.
Filter event sending based on ambient light
It is possible to limit event sending to the Tikee based on the brightness measured at the Tikee Sentinel level.
Use the “filter by ambient light” setting for this purpose.
This setting allows events to be authorized or blocked depending on lighting conditions.
On the configuration page, you can choose:
- Value (automatic): the Tikee uses the measured brightness to decide.
- Day only: events are sent only if ambient light is sufficient.
- Night only: events are sent only if brightness is low.
Installation best practices
- Mount the Tikee Sentinel at approximately 2 m height.
- Orient the sensor so that objects cross the field laterally.
- Avoid unstable environments (moving plants, light reflections).
- Test detection before permanent installation.
